Historic KEAN Factory in Limassol to Be Demolished for Major Residential and Commercial Development
The company bbf has confirmed plans to tear down the historic KEAN factory in Limassol, paving the way for significant residential, commercial, and office developments. This factory, set on the coastal avenue of Limassol, has served as a prominent landmark since it opened on July 1, 1956, functioning as the main production site for the soft drinks company.
KEAN commands over 25% of the local market share for juices and citrus-based soft drinks. In recent years, they have broadened their presence in the HORECA sector by importing notable brands such as HEINZ/KRAFT, HP, L&P, AMOY, VITALIA, FARLEY’S CALVO (tuna and salads), GO TAN (noodles and sauces), PELLITO NUTS, among others.
After bbf (Build Better Future) acquired the KEAN Group, the decision was made to demolish the factory as part of a larger redevelopment plan. Insiders reveal that bbf has prepared a detailed master plan for the site, which currently awaits approval. The envisioned development includes skyscrapers up to 20 stories high, transforming the location into a contemporary center for residential and commercial life.
The company has stressed that top priority is being given to relocating KEAN’s employees to a new production site in Limassol to ensure uninterrupted operations. This will precede the careful and systematic demolition of the current factory.
It is reported that both the demolition and workforce relocation will proceed quickly, with new construction anticipated to begin in 2026. This development is expected to significantly enhance the site’s value, thanks to its strategic location.
The finalization of bbf’s purchase of the KEAN Group occurred in April 2023. The factory spans more than 40 acres in Limassol’s eastern sector, an area known for its strategic and commercial significance.
Through this ambitious initiative, bbf seeks to transform the site into a pivotal urban development, thereby contributing to the enhancement of Limassol’s evolving skyline and economic advancement.
